Ian Barron, DPM, FACFAS

 

Dr. Ian Barron completed his residency training at The Ohio State University and has since dedicated himself to advancing the field of foot and ankle surgery. As a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and Diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, he is Board Certified in Foot and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery, showcasing his expertise in complex interventions. Dr. Barron is highly involved in resident education and research, emphasizing his commitment to excellence. Currently serving as the Associate Program Director of the Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency at UTHSCSA, Dr. Barron is passionately committed to shaping the future of podiatric medicine through comprehensive resident education.

Dr. Christopher Bibbo an Orthopaedic & Podiatric Surgeon and Chief of Foot & Ankle Surgery at The Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopaedics-International Center for Limb Lengthening of Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Maryland, where he specializes in Foot & Ankle Surgery, Orthoplastic Limb Preservation/Salvage Surgery, Lower and Upper Extremity Plastic Reconstructive & Microsurgery, Musculoskeletal Trauma and Advanced Nerve Reconstruction Surgery.
 

Dr. Bibbo received his Medical Degree from the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, as a Merit Scholar. During medical school, Dr. Bibbo completed his year of surgical research in the Department of General Surgery, Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
 

Dr. Bibbo post-graduate training started with a Medical Internship at Atlanticare-Atlantic City Medical Center, followed by his Orthopedic Surgery & General Surgery residencies at Rutgers University-New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Bibbo then completed an Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Fellowship at the nationally acclaimed Miller Orthopaedic Clinic/OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, North Carolina.
 

Subsequently, Dr. Bibbo also completed a second prestigious fellowship in Reconstructive Plastic & Microsurgery in the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
 

Dr. Bibbo completed his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, which was followed by a Podiatric Surgery Residency at Warminster General Hospital, Pennsylvania.
 

Dr. Bibbo is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS), Podiatric Forefoot & Ankle-Rearfoot Surgery (ABFAS), American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM), Dr. Bibbo is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS), the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, the Musculoskeletal Infection Society (MSIS), the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.
 

Throughout his career, Dr. Bibbo has authored over 100 peer reviewed publications, 13 book chapters, 45 published abstracts, authored/co-authored over 55 podium presentations (one a First Place at ACFAS), and 28 research posters. Dr. Bibbo routinely lectures to both his Podiatric & Orthopaedic residents, as well as having presented over 130 lectures at Continuing Education Surgical Courses, Grand Rounds and as a Visiting Professor. Dr. Bibbo also serves as a reviewer/sits on the editorial boards of over 30 medical journals.

Karla Tarricone, DPM

 

Dr. Karla Tarricone is a highly accomplished bilingual (English/Spanish) podiatric surgeon specializing in foot and ankle deformity correction. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from East Stroudsburg University. Dr. Tarricone then earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, where she made the Dean’s List, was inducted into the Pi Delta Honor Society and received numerous scholarships. She is a member of various professional organizations including the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) and the American Association of Women Podiatrists (AAWP). She has also been very involved with the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS); she has served on two committees contributing to promoting the profession as a student and resident mentor, and has been a moderator of podcasts and lectures at the annual scientific meetings.

 

Following medical school, Dr. Tarricone completed a rigorous Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency at Lenox Hill Hospital at Northwell Health. Her passion for learning and advancement in the field led her to pursue a Foot and Ankle Deformity Correction Fellowship at the prestigious Paley Orthopedic & Spine Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida.

 

Dr. Tarricone is enthusiastic about helping children and adults regain mobility and improving their quality of life. Her background in dance and cheerleading has given her a unique perspective on foot and ankle health, and her fellowship training allows her to provide the most advanced care possible. When she is not in the office, Dr. Tarricone relishes spending time with her family, cuddling with her lovable Schnauzer, and enjoys fashion and shopping.

Robert G. Frykberg, DPM, MPH, FFPM(Glasg)

 

Dr. Frykberg is a Clinical Professor of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in the Department of Orthopaedics, Division of Podiatry at UT Health San Antonio.   He serves as the Director of the UT Health San Antonio Podiatric Residency Program.

​

He is the former Chief of the Podiatry section at the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, and is an Adjunct Professor, Midwestern University Program in Podiatric Medicine and Professor, University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix.

 

His research and writing interests have included all facets of lower extremity disorders, but specifically focused on diabetic foot ulcers, infections, Charcot foot, and Wound care. The author of nearly 100 peer reviewed publications, he has also been the Editor of two textbooks: The High Risk Foot in Diabetes Mellitus (1991) and the Diabetic Charcot Foot (2010). Prof. Frykberg is currently a Director of the Association of Diabetic Foot Surgeons and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Dr. Aaron Ruter has been a surgical podiatrist with Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute since 2017. Dr. Ruter treats any foot or ankle complications or pain, and as a former athlete of Saint Joseph’s College track and field program, he takes pride in keeping people moving. He completed his undergraduate education at Saint Joseph’s College and graduated from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine, Ohio. He underwent his surgical residency in rearfoot reconstruction at Midwestern University and Franciscan Alliance in Dyer, Indiana. Dr. Ruter also completed a fellowship at Indiana Foot & Ankle in Indiana, with an emphasis in diabetic nerve surgery, along with diabetic limb salvage and reconstruction. Dr. Ruter is the current President, as well as surgical faculty,  of The Association of Extremity Nerve Surgeons (AENS).
